I'm sure you can all tell how badly I needed a new hobby. (ok, we aren't calling sarcasm a hobby too, are we?) So this week I have started learning how to do a little digital scrapbooking.
I've always thought that scrapbooking was really neat. Keeping track of all of the wonderful things you family does, having a creative outlet, being free to create art. These are all wonderful things. On the other hand, in order to really get into scrapbooking you have to have many many tools, a large space to work, and the diligence to clean up after yourself. I wouldn't mind having all those tools and supplies. I could probably come up with a place to do it. Could I stay organized enough for an undertaking like this? Not a chance. This is where the DIGITAL in digital scrapbooking comes in. Everything you do in normal scrapping can pretty much be done right in my computer. This is a very good thing for me. Everyone knows how much I love my Apple MacBook Pro. If I weren't already married I'd marry it. (well, and my iPhone, my Canon EOS Digital Rebel, my Tivo, and my Kitchenaide stand mixer)
In order to do all this scrapping right in my computer I had to have a good photo editing software package. As much as I would LOVE to have the full Photoshop, I've just got cute little Elements. It's working for me though. The second most important thing, Tutorials. There are some amazing tutorials out there for learning how to make PSE (PhotoShop Elements) sing. The specific tutorial I used for this layout is from DesignerDigitals and is called Laying It All Out by Cassie Jones. With the amazingly well put together tutorial you also get all the elements you need to put it together. These elements were created by Katie Pertiet. I also used some Mindy Terasawa paper.
I can't begin to tell you how much fun it was to try to get this all figured out. It's harder than it looks and I have a new found respect for all the amazing work I have seen on the net. I can't wait to try to do something more from my own imagination.
