I've been doodling on a blank piece of sketchbook paper lately. That's it above. There isn't anything specific, just whatever I feel like drawing while I'm holding the pen. The Girlies have been enjoying my little doodle because to them it is just a black and white I Spy game.
"I spy a cow."
"I spy a rabbit. No, two rabbits."
"I spy a bug and a spider, they aren't the same thing you know."
That's my daughters. So last night I was laying with Bit before she went to sleep. I was reading "The Enemy" by Lee Child, which is a military crime novel. Bit was reading over my shoulder. I don't have to worry too much about her reading things that are too old for her because, as she told me, she only reads words 4 letters and smaller. As we were reading last night she pointed at the page and said, "This is the part where the pixieman finds out there is no mushroom house for him to live in."
"This part right here?" I asked, "is about a pixieman?"
She smiled at me, "Yep. He doesn't have a mushroom house."
"Then where will the pixieman live?"
"He's going to move into a tree. Up high." Then she rolled over as if she were going to go to sleep.
After a few minutes she rolled back to me and asked what the name of the book was. "The Enemy", I answered.
"It's written by Lee Chill-Ed?" she asked.
"That's Ch-eye-ld. I thought you couldn't read five letter words?"
"I can't... The pixieman isn't the enemy." She sounded pretty sure.
"He isn't? Then who is the enemy?"
"The people who won't let him have a mushroom house. They make fun of him when he moves into the tree. Pixiemans don't live in trees." Then she fell asleep. It was almost like she had to get the rest of the story out before she could drift off. Clever child, that one.
So this morning I got up and added one last touch to the I Spy doodle. The pixieman has a mushroom house now.
In case you were wondering why there haven't been any knitting pics lately, this picture should explain it. There haven't been any knitting pics because there hasn't been anything to look at but a big brown blob. Lovely, hmmm? The embroidery I'm working on is a bit prettier to look at in the sun light.
