Saturday Bit woke up and said, "Is today my birthday!!!" It wasn't, her birthday was in August. It was a big day though, it was birthday party day. We had a combined birthday party for Bug and Bit this weekend. It was at a place full of inflatable bounce houses and a dance floor with black lights and a bubble machine. It was great fun.
I had planned on buying a cake from someone or other but Bug had different plans. She asked me to bake the cake. I told her that it would be so much easier just to buy one and we could have it look however they wanted. She didn't go for it. She's a smart kid though, she knows just how to work me. "Mommy, you know you make the best cakes in the world. Our birthday would be much better if you made the cake. You're the best." Yeah, what am I supposed to say to that?
So that's the cake I made, up there. The bottom tier is yellow cake, the top tier is dark chocolate. It is iced with swiss meringue buttercream and decorated with candy and lollipops. I made everything but the candy from scratch and the cake is huge. It weighs more than you can probably imagine a cake weighing.
This is how it looked all lit up and ready for candle blowing. See the look on Bitty's face? The cake was hard work but that look made it totally worth it. I got MANY compliments on the cake, both on how it looked and how it tasted. I like that. I'm glad it made people happy and I'm glad that the party was a success.
The girlies have already started planning next year. Children are so funny that way.

The party was great, the children had a blast, and the star of the show was definitely the cake. I know how much work you put into it, so I'm glad it all turned out the way it did. You must have nerves of steel to build a cake that big and then transport it.
Kudos!
