A little fake isle goes a long way

Today at the ballet studio I was finishing up my second fake isle hat when I was caught.  Some people in the studio who also knit, occasionally, saw me knitting and went nuts.  Never EVER had they seen anything so amazing as all of the needles (DPNs) sticking out in so many directions, and ALL THOSE COLORS!  How do I ever keep track of more than one ball of yarn at the same time?

It was fun.  Even more fun was finishing this hat for Bug.

Don't let the face fool you, she loves the hat.  She was just trying for a fashion pose.

I changed the pattern up a little so that it would fit Bug better, both in size and in style.  I made the ribbing a little deaper and reduced the cast on to 90 stitches.  I also rewrote the fair isle pattern in the middle to be interlocking hearts.  It goes well with the extreme pinkness of this hat.  Don't you think?

Trying too hard

The last couple of days I have been taking lots of pictures of the Girlies.  For the last few years we have given out personalized gifts with pics of the girls to the grandparents and family.  As you've probably seen here on my blog, my daughters can be pretty photogenic.  Things are different when you are looking for something specific though.  I've taken pictures, pictures, and more pictures.  I did finally get a few that would work, but I also got lots of others...

Merry Merry

I finally got healthy enough from my run in with strep throat to get the family moving on decorating for the holidays.  We set up the ginormous tree and the Super Buster put all the lights on.  (I have to let him put the lights on because it would take me a week, I have tree lighting OCD)  The Girlies put on most of the ornaments and had a great time telling stories about each one.  We are big fans of personalized ornaments and ornaments chosen each year to match the milestones in our lives.  I also write the year we get them on the back of all of our ornaments so we can remember where we were and what we were doing when we got each new ornament.  It makes getting the tree ready for Santa so much fun.

Once the tree was lit and pretty and the stockings were hung on the mantle I got to get out my very favorite Christmas decoration.

This is my picture of "Bah Hum"Bug.  That's my Buggy wearing her Santa hat at her second Christmas.  Isn't she something?  Behind her on the bar are two of my many Santas, I collect Santa stuff.
