Last weekend my Doodle Bug was replaced by a Brazilian Dancing Monkey. The dance studio where my Girlies take ballet/tap/jazz lessons put on their yearly ballet for children. This performance is different from the annual Dancenter recital. The recital is for all of the students at the Dancenter and their individual classes to show the routines they have come up with. The school they go to also has an amateur ballet company made up of the older and better dancers at the school. This group is a not for profit ballet that puts on productions and original ballets with ticket sales that support the company.
Each year the company puts on a ballet called Tuzerita that is a continuing story of a dancing rabbit who has adventures. The ballet is presented for children and the kids who take classes at the studio as well as others love to see it each year. This year's Tuzerita was a trip around the world to see animals of different countries dancing their native style dances.
Bug's favorite teacher at the school is her Jazz teacher who is a former professional ballerina from Brazil. A little over a month ago her teacher asked me if Bug could stay at the studio after her jazz class for a Tuzerita rehearsal. I was surprised because most of the dancers in the production are over 14 and Bug is 7. Her teacher, Ms. A wanted Bug to be part of the dance she was choreographing for Tuzerita, the Brazilian Samba Monkeys. I can't begin to tell you how excited Bug was to be the "Baby Monkey".
I'm hoping to have a clip of the performance for you soon but until then all you get is pictures.
From the feedback I have heard, the Monkeys stole the show. I wish I could buy everyone who reads my blog a ticket to see the wonderful dancers.
While we're talking about the Girlies, and Girls in general I should mention that my Diva post was featured as a Blog of the Day in the Girls catagory.
I'm pretty proud of that, mostly because I am so very proud of my daughters. They're fabulous!
In case anyone has forgotten, including me, this is a knitting blog. The problem is, I have NO knitting to show you in this post. I have been spinning but I'm not ready to show that off yet. I have been doing A LITTLE knitting, and then reknitting, and then knitting again, but after all of that I have two rows to show for it. Not picture worthy. Maybe next time.
Last thing, thank you for all of the advice about my headache. It ended up lasting just one day short of 4 weeks and then it vanished on it's own. I had an MRI/MRA which did not show anything. I'll discuss it with my neurologist next week so maybe we can figure out what to do if the headache ever comes back. Right now I am just really enjoying being without it.
